ANALYSIS: Government promises to reform the lettings sector are examined alongside long-standing concerns over enforcement, regulation and consumer protection, asking whether the latest proposals will finally deliver meaningful change.
We’ve been here before. The Government promises to crack down on rogue letting agents and clean up the industry. It pledges to introduce criminal charges and protect consumers from unscrupulous landlords more interested in making money than saving lives.
And so, on Easter Sunday, when ministers announced all of these measures (and more), the statement wasn’t greeted with universal thrill....
