UPDATES: The kilogram is being redefined in terms of scientific constants, a change that secures the future of measurement while preserving the practical consistency relied on by trade and enforcement.
The kilo is to have a new definition, following a decision made by researchers meeting at the recent 26th General Conference on Weights and Measure held in Versailles in November.
