UPDATES: The government has escalated action over fire-risk Whirlpool tumble dryers by moving towards a formal recall, urging owners of affected appliances to unplug them immediately and seek the manufacturer's advice.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has urged consumers to ‘unplug’ unmodified and affected Whirlpool tumble dryers and contact the company.
