Whirlpool has issued a product recall for washing machines that pose a fire risk

UPDATES: Whirlpool has recalled hundreds of thousands of Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines because of a fire risk linked to a door-lock defect. CTSI urges consumers to check affected models and register appliances for future safety recalls.
Appliance manufacturer Whirlpool has announced that specific models of Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines made between 2014 and 2018 are affected by a door lock defect which may cause the machine to catch fire. The company said it would begin replacing the units from January 2020.
