An initiative to ensure West Midlands letting agents comply with the law has won funding

UPDATES: Trading Standards teams across the West Midlands are joining forces with the National Trading Standards Estate and Letting Agents Team to check compliance by letting agents. The project focuses on deposit protection, client money protection and other legal duties, with substantial financial penalties available for breaches.
Letting agents who fail to protect tenants’ deposits or comply with other legal requirements are being targeted by Trading Standards teams across the West Midlands as part of a special initiative, and could face fines of up to £30,000.
