UPDATES: A Telford rogue trader who pressured an elderly homeowner into paying more than £60,000 for poor and unnecessary work has received a suspended sentence, underlining the risks faced by vulnerable consumers targeted at home.
A rogue trader who scammed more than £60,000 from an elderly homeowner has pleaded guilty to two charges under the Fraud Act 2006 following an investigation by Telford & Wrekin Council Trading Standards.
In January 2018, Michael Jim McDonald cold-called at the home of a 70-year-old woman and offered to remove the tops of some conifer trees for a cash payment of £400.
