UPDATES: CTSI has warned consumers about a convincing SMS scam impersonating Royal Mail to collect payment and personal details. The fraud exploits the growth in online shopping and parcel deliveries, underlining the need for vigilance against increasingly sophisticated phishing attacks.
A new SMS text message scam has emerged, with fraudsters posing as the Royal Mail, according to evidence received by CTSI.
The text sent to members of the public reads: “your Royal Mail parcel is awaiting delivery. Please confirm the settlement of 1.99 (GBP) on the following link.”
